President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s government through its flagship programme “planting for export and rural development has presented one hundred and twenty thousand (120, 000) palm nut seedlings to over one hundred farmers in the Achiase district of Eastern region.
The district chief executive for Achiase district; Hon. Richmond Kofi Amponsah Agyabeng during the presentation ceremony held at the district assembly head office advised the beneficiary farmers to plant the seedlings and not to sell or dump them somewhere as some farmers have done before.
He explained that the seedlings were given to the farmers free of charge by the government without any payment of money therefore beneficiary farmers must take advantage of the government flagship program to make money in the near future which is not more than three years.
Some of the beneficiary farmers spoke to Peace FM after receiving their seedlings and expressed their sincere gratitude to the government for its concern for farmers especially those in the rural areas who can’t afford to buy the large quantity of seedlings and also pledged to plant their seedlings for positive results in future.
