A/R: Tafo AstroTurf; public urged to adopt maintenance culture and ensure facility management- Dr Akoto Osei.

Former Member of Parliament for Old Tafo Constituency in the Ashanti Region and a former Minister of Monitoring and Evaluation, Hon Dr Anthony Akoto Osei has urged the general public to imbibe maintenance culture of public facilities and ensure quality facility management.

According to him, government spends huge sums of money renovating and building new structures because the old structures have been left to rot.

Hon Dr Anthony Akoto Osei said this at an official commissioning of Tafo AstroTurf formerly known as Tafo sakasaka park.

Dr Akoto Osei therefore charged the Tafo Municipal Assembly led by Hon Fred Obeng Owusu to use some Assembly common fund to maintain the edifice.

The AstroTurf edifice which was named after the former member of Parliament, Hon Dr Anthony Akoto Osei was graced with some dignitaries such as Tafo Chief, Nana Agyen Frimpong II, Ashanti Regional Minister, the clergy, Assembly Members and Staffs, Zongo Chiefs and Imams etc.

Advising the youth, the Chief of Tafo traditional Council, Nana Agyen Frimpong II, said they should grab this great edifice opportunity and explore their talents in sporting activities to bring Tafo a great football team that can compete with Asante kotoko and Accra hearts of oak.

He told them to leave exemplary life and eschew any misconduct and social vices.

Meanwhile the Municipal Chief Executive of the Old Tafo Municipal Assembly, Hon Fred Obeng Owusu in a welcome address stated that, the Assembly will setup a committee to oversee the operation and maintenance of the edifice.

He added that the side spaces will be used as a commercial adverts which will also generates revenue to the Assembly.
