Tafo-Pankrono, Chiefs, Residents Hail Government As MCE Cuts Sod To Construct Abed-Arizona Road and Santan Storm Drain.

Old Tafo-Pankrono Municipal Assembly, in the Ashanti region led by Hon Lord Inusah Lansah has cut a sod to commence a construction of 829 metres Abed-Arizona-Richard Appiah roads at Pankrono and 138 metres long Santan storm drain at Tafo Gee junction.

The project According to the MCE is under and funded by the Ghana Secondary Cities Support Programme (GSCSP) and when completed will improve livelihood and economic activities at the area as government is poised to constructing roads.

Addressing the gathering at the sod cutting ceremony at Tafo on Wednesday 29 June 2022, the Chief Executive, Hon Lord Inusah Lansah stated that the two projects have been a major challenge for the Assembly and residents especially the Santan storm drain which continue posing as a dead trap for the inhabitants over the years.

He described the deadly trapped Santan storm drain as 3.5m ×1.5m and 138 long whereas the worrying Abed-Arizona-Richard Appiah roads covering 829 metres long will take a period of 19 months to complete with assurance of quality work.

The MCE said construction of roads is part of the Government’s drive to ensure inclusive development.

The Ghana Secondary City Support Program is an initiative by the government led by President Akufo-Addo aimed and designed to improve the delivery of Urban development management and services in the 25 participating Municipal Assemblies funded by the World Bank with a total amount of $100.0 million, it also has a maturity period of 30 years and a 5 years grace period.

The Chief of Atafoa traditional area, Nana Kwadwo Arhin II together with the other chiefs present were grateful to the government for the infrastructural development in the area.

He pledged to support the contractor by giving him the needed assistance to ensure the completion of the project on schedule.

Meanwhile, the Assembly members for Pankrono East and Santan electoral areas and some Residents who spoke with Hello Fm Rexkin Ohene Boateng expressed their excitement.

According to Hon Richard Appiah the road when completed would improve upon the lives of residents, mainly drivers, traders and pregnant women who went through stress before being transported to the nearest health facility to deliver.
