Bought for Ghc150.00 at Takyimantia but sold between Ghc500.00 and Ghc600 in Kumasi markets

Medium Bucket of Tomatoes
Bought for Ghc50.00 at Takyimantia but sold for Ghc200.00 in Kumasi markets

In markets in Kumasi, three tomatoes are sold for Ghc5

Bag of Pepper
Bought at Ghc250.00 at Takyimantia but sold between Ghc400.00 and Ghc600 in Kumasi markets.

Meaning the Market Women are selling food items to consumers at four folds of the price they buy from the farming communities.

Reason for the Huge Price Difference Given by Sellers
Hikes in fuel prices which has pushed transportation fares up is the major cause (Cost of transportation)

Before Fuel Price Increments
Cost of Transportation per Box of Tomato from Takyimantia to Kumasi = Ghc10.00

*After Fuel Price increments*
Cost of Transportation per Box of Tomato from Takyimantia to Kumasi = Ghc15.00

From the above price differential analysis, despite the several new external factors influencing agricultural (farming) production costs, there is now evidence and justification that, the high cost of food being experienced by some consumers can not be attributed to the management of the agricultural sector by the Minister, *Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto* but should rather be attributed to the other indicators influencing prices within the logistics and supply chain from the source to the end consumer!
