Child growing and learning: Old Tafo-Pankrono municipal health directorate warns parents to take their children’s safety and security serious.

Old Tafo-Pankrono municipal health directorate in the Ashanti region is admonishing parents and care takers in the municipality to make the safety and security of children their major priority in terms of road crossing and physical environment of their children.

The Ghana health services as part of their routine health education is embarking on a nationwide annual child health promotion week under the theme “Child Safety and Security”.

The promotion aimed at creating awareness among the general public about child safety and security particularly in the homes, schools, communities and public places to nurturing care framework for child’s growth and learning.

Madam Faustina Osei Mensah, the Old Tafo-Pankrono municipal director of health services speaking with Rexkin Ohene Boateng advised parents to not allow their children stand in a moving vehicle, neither should they strap their children in the front seat of vehicles.

Madam Faustina Osei Mensah further advised the general public to ensure that all playgrounds, compounds, rooms etc are free from sharp objects and all pits and manholes must be dug out or covered to prevent death and deformities of children.

The 2022 year’s theme highlights five major components namely;
1. Safe physical environment
2. Safe road crossing tips
3. Children and car safety
4. Before moving vehicle
5. Safety of children.

Opportunity also was taken to educate the public through radio/tv discussions, community information centres and other communication media on the child health services in general and child safety.
