Sarah Adwoa Safo, Member of Parliament for Dome Kwabenya was so reluctant to appear in parliament that it took the intervention of the Chief of Staff, Madam Frema Opare to beg her kneeling and literally wailing, credible sources have narrated to MyNewsGh.com.
Using her motherly skills, the Chief of Staff had to beg, kneel and cajole the controversial Dome Kwabenya Member of Parliament because the government needed her presence to push an agenda for the controversial e-levy.
MyNewsGh.com sources said on Monday, Adwoa Sarfo refused to show up at Parliament the whole day. That, we are told, is one of the reasons the NPP led by Kyei Mensah-Bonsu kept delaying the presentation of the e-levy bill to the floor of Parliament until Speaker Alban S.K Bagbin left.
Without Adwoa Safo’s vote, the motion would have been defeated.
Parliament was scheduled to start business at 9am and Speaker Bagbin was there at 8am but the NPP side was not ready for business as at 12pm when it called Bagbin for two more hours until 2pm.
This was when the Chief of Staff pulled her last string to convinced Adwoa Safo to appear in parliament.
Thr problem is not only in parliament, Adwoa Safo has so far refused to appear at the Ministry of Gender where after she left for leave in July this year.
She is also reportedly aggrieved about a series of decisions taken by the party and government during her internal primaries with Michael Oquaye Jnr who is now positioned at the Freezones Board and also about her impasse with Mrs Gertrude Quarshigah, widow of late Maj. Courage Quarshigah over the School Feeding Programme, a key wing of the Gender Ministry.
