“Traditional, Cultural Practices not Idol Worshipping, adopt it”, Otumfour Brempon has told Christians.
The Otumfour Brempon Hene and Chief of Sabin-Akrofrom traditional area, Nana Osei Kofi has advised Christians not to misconstrue traditional and cultural practices to mean worshipping of idols because every community was built upon strong traditions, with values that made it appreciable levels and possible for members of the various communities to live in peace with one another.
He observed that, there would not be any meaningful development, if tradition and culture are relegated to the background.
Nana Osei Kofi said this when Reach-Out Baptist church organised a traditional sunday service to portray traditions, norms and culture in the church auditorium at Ahwiaa-Nana Appiah in the Kwabre east municipality of the Ashanti region.
He said it had become a major problem in recent times in Ghana, that many of the youth do not see the need to learn and understand the importance of traditional practices in their areas, and regard them as evil, which, the Chief called on Christian churches to involved themselves in traditional and cultural programs to bring Nananom closer to God.
The Chief further stated that though it was prudent that the white brought Bible to Africa, however those missionaries who brought Christianity were the same people who introduced alcoholic, stole their gold and practiced slave trades.
The Head Pastor of the Reach-Out Baptist Church, Rev. Rexford Antwi Boateng has advised that Christian should trace their root, find their tradition and practice it.
The Reach-Out Baptist Head Pastor entreating the congregation that pouring of libation is not a sin base on the words, He said by reaching out the traditionalist will subject them closer to the Lord through practicing their culture and norms during church services.
Rev Rexford Antwi Boateng noted that, the situation where people looked down traditions must be of much concern to all well meaning Ghanaians, most especially, as Christians and for that matter the youth have adopted alien cultures which are strange to Ghanaian cultural practices.
Meanwhile, some of the church members expressed happiness for portraying their culture and urged all churches to embrace it.
