Akyem Kwaboso: GNASSM Taskforce Nabbes 14 Suspected Illegal Miners.

Some 14 illegal miners has been apprehended on the Birim river at Akyem Kwaboso, a suburb of Kwabeng in the Atiwa West District of the Eastern region by the Ghana National Association of Small Scale Miners and are currently in the police custody.

According to the commander of the Taskforce, Patrick Don-Chebe, the 14 suspects were arrested following their routine patrol on the Birim river. He warned that, they will not relent on their quest to prevent illegal mining activities on the Birim river and that, anybody who dares to operate on the river will not be spared.

He also disclosed that, as usual, there were calls from influential people in society to free the suspects but ignored them and has handed over the suspects to the Kwabeng Police for further investigation.
