Old Tafo-Pankrono: Municipal Health Directorate, Pankrono Health Center Receives US Delegation’s Support

A delegation from Connecticut in the United States of America USA, and Old Tafo Municipal Assembly led by Hon. Lord Inusah Lansah have paid a working visit to the long abandoned Pankrono hospital project aimed to provide support to facelift the edifice.

The Pankrono hospital project construction was started by the former Tafo-Pankrono member of parliament and former Minister for Monitoring and Evaluation, Hon. Dr Anthony Akoto Osei.

The NHIS-Fund storey building project was not only to provide healthcare for the people of Pankrono and its environs but to also avert the pressure of Tafo hospital which has served as the only government hospital in the municipality.

However the project has been left behind for “wee” smokers, garbage and snakes’den after it was roofed in 2008.

Speaking at a short meeting on Tuesday 17th May, 2022, the Leader of the US Delegation who is also the deputy NPP women’s organizer in North America USA, Madam Edna Boateng said it has been a priority of herself and daughter Alyn Ama Asante Tweneboah who is a medical practitioner in USA to provide support for their home country Ghana particularly in the area of health which upon hearing the challenges decided to take the move to provide quality healthcare for the people of Pankrono.

Speaking according to Madam Alyn Ama Asante Tweneboah, very soon works will soon commence with plastering and painting whereas other part of the construction, demarcation and decoration shall follow accordingly to bring life to the abandoned edifice.

The Delegation to Ghana sought to foster the initiatives of the civil society organisations in their capacities to address mainly health and social issues in Ghana.

The Municipal Chief Executive, Hon Lord Inusah Lansah saids government is committed to improving quality healthcare infrastructure for national development.

He assured the people that, the assembly is making every effort by collaborating with stakeholders, philanthropists and corporate bodies to address the various challenges in the municipality especially with the Pankrono hospital to ward-off pressure been mounted on Tafo hospital.

The Municipal Health Director, Madam Faustina Osei Mensah was grateful of the visit and said when the project is materialized will reduce and release the burden of the only government hospital at Tafo and its staffs.
