Wassa East: MP Charges Golden Star Mines To Fulfill Promise Made To Togbekrom Community

Mp For Wassa East Appeals To Golden star wassa mine ltd to fully fulfill their promise to wassa togbekrom to bring peace and order in the district.

Following the massive demonstration that saw about 900 residents of Wassa Togbekrom in the Wassa East district of western region hit on the streets on the 16/02/2023 against Golden Star Wassa mine Ltd for denying them employment after destroying their farm lands and water bodies, the Member of Parliament for Wassa East constituency Hon. Isaac Adjei Mensah has called on the Golden Star Wassa mine Ltd to fully fulfill the MoU that they entered with the people of Wassa Togbekrom to ensure peace in the area.

The Member of Parliament stressed that, the mining company should provide the people with portable drinking water and also offer them permanent employments as the residents have demanded.

In an interview with Wassaman Fm’s Listowel Aboagye Dacosta, Hon. Isaac Adjei Mensah condemned the demonstration and advised the youth in the area to use a peaceful channel to register their frustrations.

He also appealed to Golden Star Wassa mine Ltd that, they should periodically review the MoU that they signed with the various communities within the mining catchment areas to meet the current needs of the people.
