Vice President Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang has announced that the government’s flagship Women’s Development Bank is on the cusp of rollout, with preparations reaching an advanced stage.
Addressing the 65th End-of-Year Gathering and General Meeting of the Greater Accra Markets Association (GAMA), she revealed that a two-day workshop has been convened to finalize key implementation strategies for the initiative.
“Women are not lazy, it is help that we need. Every major policy needs appropriate preparation and consultation, so it thrives,” Prof. Opoku-Agyemang emphasized.
The Women’s Development Bank is set to provide targeted financial support to women, particularly those in trading and small-scale enterprises, bolstering their economic empowerment.
The Vice President also urged market leaders and traders to support efforts to maintain clean market centres, stressing that sanitation is critical in mitigating flooding, especially during the rainy season.
