Persons With Disabilities Receive Guidelines On Disbursements Of Assembly Common Fund

Sensitization For Persons Living With Disabilities On Guidelines For Management And Disbursements Of The Assembly Common Fund 2022.

Ghana Somubi Dwumadie through the funding support of UK aid has organized sensitization on the guidelines for the disbursement and management of the District Assembly Common Fund for the persons living with disability and the Ghana federation of disability organization (GFD) under the authority of the Social Welfare, in cooperation with the office of the Common Fund Administrator and with the approval of the ministry for local government and rural development.

Mad. Vivian Sarpomaa, the leadership Governance Advisor UK Aid Ghana Somubi Dwumadie, addressing Persons living with disabilities through the sensitization program stated, that this new guidelines is in support of UK aid for Ghana persons living with disabilities, after ten (10) years of implementation of the first guidelines.

She again, lamented that through their National stakeholders consultation with Ghana Federation of Disability, it came to their notice that there are a lot of gaps in the last 10 years implementation, so there is the need to bring disabilities issues which doesn’t cover persons with mental health conditions, care givers and those who are suppose to fall under the new implementation of the disability guidelines.

In an interview with Nattybongo, the western north regional secretary for Somubi Dwumadie who is disable, Mr Kwaku Afful cited that this new implementation will help them because the last implementation of their share of the assembly common fund, there was a lot of political influence, so they are calling on the Minister of local government and rural development, Hon Dan Botwe to sign the new implementation for them.
