Sophia Amankwah, popularly known as Akete Borgeh, an executive member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Atwima Nwabiagya South, has reacted strongly to President Akufo-Addo’s assertion that Ghana was not founded by Kwame Nkrumah alone. Amankwah accused the President of being jealous of Nkrumah’s achievements, stating that the former President had done immense good for Ghana and should not be belittled.
According to Akete, Nkrumah’s contributions to Ghana’s development are undeniable, and it’s unfair to downplay his role in the country’s history. She emphasized that Nkrumah’s legacy should be respected and not used as a political tool to score points.
Amankwah also warned the ruling party against comparing their “failed administration” to Nkrumah’s accomplishments, stating that such comparisons are unfair and unwarranted. She urged the President and his party to focus on delivering on their promises rather than trying to diminish the achievements of past leaders.
