Kwabre East: Community Protection, Fire Service Assistants Inaugurated, MCE Urges Personnels To Never Use Their Uniform To Extort Money From Drivers

The Youth Employment Agency (YEA) in the Kwabre East Municipal of the Ashanti region has inaugurated 83 Recruits into Community Protection Assistant (CPA) and Community Fire Assistant (CFA) at the Municipal Assembly Hall at Mamponteng on Wednesday.

The 83 YEA beneficiaries were made up of 68 Police Assistants and 15 Fire Service Assistants with 20 per cent females forming the total population, undergone physical training at Police and Fire Services training schools in Kumasi.

The Chief Executive of the Kwabre East Municipal Assembly Hon. Joseph Amankwah, praised the success of the programme and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to sustainable youth employment. He said the initiative aligned with President John Dramani Mahama’s vision of removing young people from the streets and placing them in a gainful employment, indicating the Fire Service Assistant module has been first ever in the history of Ghana’s political face so the President needs to be commended for that matter.

Addressing the gathering, Chief Amankwah advised the beneficiaries to eschew all forms of professional misconduct such as using their uniform and office to extort money from drivers and to intimidate people.

He also urged the Recruits to dismiss partisan politics in the course of their duties and also discard negative perceptions of the YEA programme, stressing that creating opportunities for the youth was a national responsibility.

The Political Head cautioned the newly recruits of people’s wives, husbands and concubines, urging them to control their sexual impulse, and also charged them to earn public trust through professionalism and vigilance. He emphasised that their service would protect lives, property and the environment while directly supporting Ghana’s economic ambitions.

“Let this opportunity motivate you to dedicate yourselves completely to serving your communities and our nation,” he told them.

The Chief Executive further appealed to the mainstream Police and Fire Service Officers to regular conduct in-service training for them to be abreast with current developments.
