Fire has destroyed 4 bedroom self-contained apartment that belongs to the parents of Former Peace Fm and Rich Fm Journalist, Oscar Adawu Dadzie at Assin Fosu.
The unfortunate incident is said to have occurred around midnight on Saturday when the victims who are in their 70s were fast asleep.
Even though there were no casualties, properties worth millions of Ghana Cedis were burnt to ashes by the blazing inferno.
The victims have however been rushed to the hospital for medical attention since they were suffocated by the smoke.
Eyewitnesses who spoke with Rich Fm and Angel Fm/TV News Reporter Kwame Owusu Asante Shadrack explained that they got noticed the heavy flames and smoke in the sky from the victim’s residence accompanied by slim voices shouting for help.
They rushed to the scene and with the help of other neighbors who were equally awakened by the sounds of explosions caused by the raging inferno they were able to bring the situation under control.
An eyewitness said, they placed calls to the fire service station but were directed to the National Headquarters of the Fire Service, Accra, and were also redirected to Cape Coast before sending the signal to Assin Fosu.
“So by the time the firefighters arrived around 2 am everything has been consumed by the fire beyond recognition including the roofing,” they said.
The fire personnel has launched an investigation into the matter to ascertain what brought about the fire outbreak and also to assess the extent of damage.
