A manipulated video circulating on social media has sparked controversy, falsely depicting Vice-President Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang dancing to the politically charged song “Yentie Obiaa” by Daddy Lumba. The clip, shared by New Patriotic Party communicator Awal Mohammed, has garnered significant attention, with over 275,000 views and thousands of reactions and comments.
However, Citi Verify has fact-checked the video and determined that the audio has been tampered with. The original footage, taken during the First Annual National Forum on Women in Government and Media at the Jubilee House, shows the Vice-President dancing to a live performance by singer Efya, not “Yentie Obiaa”.
The altered video has sparked criticism of the Vice-President and other female government officials, with some interpreting the song as a political statement. Citi Verify’s investigation confirms that the manipulation was done to create a false narrative, highlighting the dangers of misinformation on social media.
