Illegal Mining Dig Five Meters Pit Close To The Accra Kumasi Highway At Akyem Osino In The Fanteakwa South District Of Eastern Region.
Ghana National Association of small scale mining promised the government to help fight against the illegal miners who are destroying our water bodies in the country.
In view that they established a tasks force which has been going rounds to fight against the illegal miners.
Mr. Philip Kwasi Akuffo the president of Ghana National Association of small scale mining together with his Executives and the task force started a tour around some parts of Eastern Region, which they started their tour at Akyem Osino.
In their rounds they noticed that their river is getting better however they got to some point and noticed that the illegal miners have dug a pit five meters away from the Accra Kumasi highway which is so dangerous.
He has decided to report to the issue to Anyinam Police command to lay ambush and get those people arrested.
From Osino they moved to Akyem Anyinam and Nkawkaw .
Mr. Philip Kwasi Akuffo also said since the tasks force was established they are working hard to make sure the river bodies in the country are clean and free from the illegal miners.
District Chief Exeutive of Fanteakwa south Hon. Ernest Asiedu spoke to Dr. Boboobo that the tasks force are perfectly working and he really appreciate that.
He said because of their hardworking the river bodies are now getting better, due to that he has decided not to call the Police again but will always call them when the needs arrive.
The chief executive assured that, the Assembly will always support them with the logistics which will help them fight against the illegal miners.
He said he noticed that the illegal miners worked at night due to that he wrote a letter to the Anyinam Police Commander to let his night patrol team monitor and comb the area very well and arrest anyone they will see working illegally at night.
