Reproductive and Child Health Unit under the Public Health department at the Juaben Government Hospital in the Ashanti Region has embarked on school health sensitization on the upsurge of the novel covid-19 pandemic.
Public health service is a department under the Ghana Health Service as part of its objectives to develope a surveillance and control systems for communicable and non-communicable diseases and to provide support, monitoring and evaluation of programmes and projects in collaboration with various health programme has intensified its education into basic schools on the current surge in the second phase of covid-19 to create awareness and the need to observe protocol measures.

They highlighted the students on what actually the covid-19 pandemic was; the signs and symptoms associated with it.
The team briefed the pupils on when the Country recorded its first case and also taught them the signs and symptoms of the new variant of the coronavirus pandemic.
The health officials later educated the young people the proper way of washing hands with soap and the use of hand sanitizers and nose masks.

Ghana is currently experiencing another wave of COVID-19 infections.
The country has over 7931 active cases and over 565 deaths and 523 recorded as new case as of the latest update.
This has led to pressure on health facilities in the country.
The Greater Accra, Ashanti, Central and Western regions were leading with high number of active cases.
The Africa Center for Disease Control (CDC) has also confirmed Ghana as amongst countries on the continent where the new variant is spreading.
Meanwhile the Principal Community Health Nurse at the Reproductive and Child Health Unit at the Juaben Government Hospital, Miss Akosua Korantemaa Asante
told heroesghnews.com that as part of their daily routine to offer education to community members on how they could maintain their health to decrease the occurrence of diseases and deaths, their sensitisation exercise in the schools was aimed at promoting, protecting and preserving the health of the school children and the Teachers.
She further explained that the Juaben Municipality Health delivery has been demarcated into Juaben, Bomfa and Achiase sub-districts, which Juaben falls under their jurisdiction according to her has sensitised all the Public and Private Schools within.
