Drivers and Passengers in Assin Fosu have complained bitterly about the terrible nature of roads in the Municipality.
Speaking with newsmen,they said notwithstanding the economic and social prospects, the roads in the Municipality had not received any major rehabilitation works and are ridden with multiples of wide portholes competing with erosion in the middle of the main high way that connect Kumasi and Cape Coast.
The disgruntled drivers further said apart from the frequent breakdown of their vehicles and high cost of maintenance, the situation creates intense vehicular and human traffic making commuting in the municipality challenging and had slowed down economic activities.
Addressing the Media, the Chairman of the GPRTU Taxi rank, ‘Inspector’ Johnson Bampoh disclosed that after paying road worthy and all the taxes, all effort to get the attention of the authorities has proven futile.
He said the current state of the roads in Assin Fosu does not befit the Municipal status.
He, therefore, called on the Member of Parliament for the area Hon. Kennedy Agyapong and Municipal Chief Executive, Hon Nicholas Fiifi Baako to as a matter of urgency rehabilitate the roads to improve movement.
