Bread makers increase prices of bread from Gh¢5 to Gh¢6, called the general public to accept the changes for quality bread making
Ashanti Regional Bread Makers Association has said to have increased prices of their produce to Gh¢6 so as to be able to produce quality bread to feed the public.
The Gh¢1 increment which takes effect on Monday 2nd August, 2021 comes as a result of high increment of raw material used for making bread.
Currently price of nut-milk has raised from Gh¢ 2200 to GH¢4000, magarine has increased from Gh¢150 to GH¢260, whilst floor also from GH¢150 to GH¢200 and sugar increased from Gh¢150 to GH¢220, they said.
Speaking at a press Conference at Kumasi Cultural Center on Sunday, the Chair Lady of the Association, Madam Philomena Boakye Yiadom said cost of materials such as floor, magarine, nut-milk, sugar, yeast fuel and gases and others use in the production of bread have galloped which is making difficult in their business operations.
She added that their labour force/workers are also demanding increment in their salaries, this according to her has compelled to increase the price and therefore called on the general public to accept the increment so as to make quality bread and also sustain the market.
Other members of the Association speaking to Hello Fm Rexkin Ohene Boateng complained that, many bread makers have left from the business/market due the persistent increase in the prices of their raw materials.
