Final year Senior High School students in the Ashanti Region are sitting for their West Africa Secondary School Certification Examination like their counterparts across the country.
These candidates who were writing Social Studies as their first core subject at the time of visit are said to be the 6th batch of the beneficiaries of free Senior High School Education programmer by the current government.
The Member of Parliament for Kwadaso Constituency who doubles as the Deputy Education Minister in charge of TVET, Hon Prof Kingsley Nyarko has encouraged these candidates to avoid any examination malpractice which can jeopardize their future when caught
Prof Kingsley Nyarko after touring some examination centres in his constituency expressed satisfactory over the how peaceful and discipline the examination atmosphere has been at the various centres visited
He lauded the role of invigilators, supervisors and security officers at the centres for exhibiting their duties well.
Some of the schools visited were, Yaa Asantewaa Girls Senior High School, Prempeh College and Agric Nzema Senior High School.
In all, 460,611 candidates, made up of 212,954 males and 247,657 females from 1,003 schools, are sitting the examination at 1,000 centres across the country.
Absenteeism was low on the first day.
