Election Petition: SC should award damage cost to defeaters.

A staunch member of the New Patriotic Party NPP, in the Bono East Region, Mr. Kwarteng Jonah has suggested that the Supreme Court should award cost of damage against any Individual or Political Party who loses an election petition at the Apex court.

Mr. Kwarteng Jonah, Tutor, and Npp Communicator B/A

He explained to the effect of the ongoing election petition at the Supreme Court that, the Petitioner has no case but deliberately frustrating and wasting the time of the Court just to promote his agenda, therefore the Supreme Court according to him must put a damage cost on anyone who intends to distract the Court proceedings with so called “review and opening of new application” after it has already passed judgment on Election Petition henceforth.

The Supreme Court has, in an unanimous decision, dismissed an application by the 2020 National Democratic Congress presidential candidate that sought leave to reopen his case.

John Dramani Mahama, who is the petitioner, had urged the court to grant his request saying he intends to subpoena Electoral Commission (EC) Chairperson, Mrs Jean Mensa, to testify.

His application follows an earlier ruling by the apex court that it cannot compel a party in a case to adduce evidence if the party does not want to do so.

Speaking on Techiman  based classic fm been sighted by heroesghnews.com, the Bono East Regional Npp Communication Member added that every election petitioner must be very up to standard with fair and better particulars to battle his/her case rather than storming the Court with inferior matters.

“We don’t just go to Court when we feel that our Party is cheated in Election but with concret evidence or enough prove and not to waste the precious time of judges” Mr Kwarteng fumes.

The Second Cycle Institution government Tutor said the NDC was not prepared enough for the Court but rather want to promote Former President Mahama to lead the party in 2024 that’s why they are in court to get sympathy votes which he said is a diabolic agenda.
