2022 World Cup: FIFA assures Ghana “fairness” ahead of Ethiopia tie in Johannesburg

The world football governing body, FIFA, has assured Ghana of fairness ahead of their matchday 5 games of the 2022 Fifa World Cup qualifiers.

The assurance follows a request by the Ghana Football Association [GFA] for fairness in the qualifier which outcome would determine the Black Stars fate as far as qualification to the football bonanza was concerned.

The GFA letter urged FIFA to ensure fairness in the two remaining matches to maintain the sporting integrity of the World Cup matches.

Ethiopia were billed to host the Black Stars at their home grounds on November 11.

However, after an inspection by the Confederation of Africa Football [CAF], the stadium where the game will be staged has been banned.

According to CAF, the edifice is not fit to host any international games.

However, the Ethiopian Football Federation [EFF] will now host the West African country at the Orlando Stadium in Johannesburg.

However, the General Secretary of the Ghana FA, Prosper Harrison Addo has revealed that FIFA has vowed to ensure fairness ahead and during the game.

“FIFA has acknowledged our letter and assured us of fairness in this particular game.” Mr Addo told Ghanaian Times Newspaper.

Meanwhile, head coach of the Black Stars, Milovan Rajevac has named a 28-man squad for the games.

FIFA has appointed Cameroonian referee Ngwa Blaise Yuven for the game.

He would be assisted by Noupue Nguegoue Elvis Guy and Menye Mpele Rodrigue with Bito Jeannot Franck as the Fourth Referee while Abdi Soud from Tanzania as the Referee Assessor and Guish Ghebremedine Tuccu from Eritrea as the Match Commissioner.

South Africa leads Group G on 10 points with four goals, followed by Ghana on nine points and three goals.

Ethiopia is on three points minus with three goals and Zimbabwe on a point and minus four goals.
