Assin North: Headteacher relieved, transferred for using school children to weed his farm during school hours

Headteacher who uses school children to weed his farm during school hours relieved of his post after Peace FM news.

The Assin North Education Directorate has relieved Mr. James Atsiako, the Headteacher of Wawase D/A Basic School of his position as the headteacher and also has been transferred from the area to Sekanbodua D/A Basic school as a classroom teacher with immediate effect.

This decision by the directorate was after Peace Fm news recently.

The Education Director of the area, Mrs. Juliet Otame speaking in an interview indicated that this was an immediate measure to pave way for a smooth investigation.

She disclosed that the suspect will also appear before the District Disciplinary Committee after the investigation since the GES code of conduct frowns upon improper use of children labour.

Mrs. Juliet Otame has vehemently condemned the act saying children are the future of the country and must be protected in all form. She said the headteacher’s excuse that the chief of the town approved the use of school children for farming during school hours is unacceptable. She told Oscar Adawu Dadzie in an interview.
