ASH. REG; Bekwai residents urged to embrace Vocational and Technical Education

The Ashanti Regional President of the National Association of Hairdressers and Beauticians, Mrs Janet Osei Sarkodie has blandished young Ghanaians to adopt acquiring skills development for a lifetime, to be self-employed and to earn decent living.

She said this at the 5th graduation ceremony of Bekwai Municipal branch of National Association of Hairdressers and Beauticians at Bekwai in the Ashanti region on Sunday.

Speaking on the theme dubbed “Harnessing and Developing Creative Skills in trainees”, Madam Janet Osei Sarkodie implored the general public to not only acquire formal education but also learn and engage in vocational skills to ensure and improve their standard of living.

Mrs Janet Osei Sarkodie noted that vocational and creative education is the only employable skills for self employment through micro and small-scale enterprises that combat youth employment and mitigate rural-urban drift.

The Municipal President of the beauticians association, Theresa Mensah in a welcome address unveiled that apprenticing is a challenging job therefore parents and guardians shouldn’t just send their wards into apprenticeship and relax but must also support them financially and other diverse ways.

She urged the 32 undergone 4 years trainees to serve their nation with commitment and humility as they must endeavor to eschew any form of professional misconduct at their workshops.

Some of the graduands showcased their experiences in the 4 years on the job training.
