Kumasi: Asafo market flooding victims (Fantes) receive support from their chief and Queen mother.

The Chief and Queen Mother of Gomoa Dago traditional area and the Apowmudzenhene of Gomoa Akyempim Traditional Council
in the Central Region Nana Affail Ato Ampiah I and Nana Adwoa Eduafowa II have, handed over assorted emergency relief items to their people living in Kumasi Asafo market in the Ashanti Region who were victims of the recent flooding at Asafo market.

The items including bags of wheat and assorted reliefs presented to 30 victim women were the view to support them begin their “wheat and obrayo” businesses that were washed away as a result of the flooding.

Unusually heavy rainfall this year has caused major devastation in some parts of Ashanti region, the situation however has led to the loss and destruction of lives and property worth millions of Ghana cedis.

The recent flooding affected areas were the Kumasi Central market, Kejatia, Asafo market, Anloga Junction and many other areas within the Region.

Presenting the items on behalf of the Chief and the Queen Mother, one of the traditional Elders, Nana Mustpher Insaidoo assured the victims that, the Chief and the people of Dago have not neglected them neither do they have forgotten them especially in a situation like this.

He also pledged the Dago traditional Authority’s commitment to support it’s royals living within and outside Dago to enhance and improve their living lifestyle.

Expressing their heartfelt and appreciation after receiving the support, some of the beneficiaries told Rexkin Ohene Boateng the repercussion they go through during raining season.

They therefore appealed to the government to provide jobs in their rural area so that they could return to the village and work.
