Afigya Kwabre South: MCE Engages Media, Gives Accounts of Stewardship To The People

Municipal Chief Executive for Afigya Kwabre South in the Ashanti region, Hon. Patricia Pearl Ankrah has engaged a section of the press in the Ashanti region to give a full account of her stewardship/administration to the people she served in the few months after her confirmation as the MCE for the Municipality, highlighting some key achievements and ongoing projects in the period.

Addressing the media at Kodie during her presentation to showcasing major interventions across sectors of the local economy, Madam Patricia Pearl Ankrah said that, her administration had championed inclusive development, with projects such as health, education, agriculture, security, roads, water, and sanitation.

She disclosed that in her first few weeks she had able to embark on Stakeholders engagements, particularly with traditional authorities, opinion leaders, and community folks, to better understand their concerns.

The move according to the first female MCE of Afigya Kwabre South, helped them to identify pressing needs and possible solutions.

The Chief Executive mentioned that many are the roads within the Municipality that are under reshaping of which some would be tarred, citing Buoho-Maase stretch with a construction of heavy bridges and gutters with the help of the District Road Improvement Programme (DRIP) equipment, improving accessibility for residents, farmers, and traders.

She further mentioned that, the Assembly has also cut a sod for the construction of a two-unit kindergarten block at Kyerase, health centre at Ntiribuoho, 20-seater toilet facility at Heman, CHPS compound and three-unit classroom block at Dumakyi, and six-unit classroom block at Wawaase Akwaasu.

Hon Patricia Pearl Ankrah admitted challenges facing the Assembly, She pointed bad road networks in some areas, lack of electricity in certain communities, and unresolved boundary disputes with adjoining municipalities and districts and Chieftaincy issues.

She raised concerns about the activities of quarry companies, particularly the blasting of stones, which she said had been inconveniencing residents and affecting their safety.

Continue Tax evasion according to her also pose a serious challenge, which is adversary affecting the Assembly’s revenue mobilisation.

However, Madam Patricia Pearl Ankrah announced plans for intensive public education to sensitise residents on the importance of paying taxes to support development.

She revealed measures to establish a Scholarship Secretariat in 2026 to enhance access to education for brilliant but needy students in the district.

Expressing gratitude to key stakeholders of the Assembly, including Assembly Members, the Member of Parliament, traditional leaders, the Ashanti Regional Minister, and staff of the Assembly, for their support and cooperation, Hon Patricia Pearl Ankrah reaffirmed her commitment to transparent leadership and inclusive administration, assuring residents that the Assembly would continue to work tirelessly to improve livelihoods and accelerate the overall development of Afigya Kwabre South.
