Addressing Furniture Deficits in Schools: Kwabre East MCE Supplies 800 Mono Desks to Senior High Schools

The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Kwabre East, Hon. Joseph Amankwah, has donated a total of 800 mono desks to four second cycle institutions in the municipality as part of ongoing efforts to enhance teaching and learning and improve educational infrastructure.

The presentation, which took place on Monday, forms part of the Assembly’s broader commitment to addressing furniture deficits in public schools and creating a more conducive learning environment for students. Each of the four beneficiary institutions received 200 mono desks to support classroom activities and ease pressure on existing furniture.

The beneficiary schools are Kofi Agyei Senior High School at Bampenase, Gyaama Pensan Senior High School at Aboaso, Adventist Girls’ Senior High School at Ntonso, and SIMMS Senior High School at Fawoade. The distribution was carried out in collaboration with school authorities to ensure the desks reach students who need them most.

Speaking during the presentation, Hon. Joseph Amankwah emphasized the importance of education as a key driver of development in the municipality. He noted that the Assembly remains committed to supporting second cycle institutions to improve academic performance and overall school conditions. According to him, providing adequate furniture is essential to enhancing effective teaching and learning, particularly as student enrolment continues to increase.

The MCE urged school management and students to cultivate a strong culture of maintenance to ensure the longevity of the desks. He stressed that public resources must be properly maintained to maximize their value and impact, adding that the sustainability of such interventions largely depends on how well the facilities are used and cared for.

Hon. Joseph Amankwah further disclosed that the Kwabre East Municipal Assembly has earmarked additional education-focused projects aimed at raising standards across schools in the municipality. These planned interventions, he said, are in line with the Assembly’s vision of strengthening human capital development through quality education.

Heads of the beneficiary institutions expressed appreciation to the Municipal Assembly and the MCE for the timely support, describing the donation as a major relief that will significantly improve classroom comfort and learning outcomes. They assured the Assembly of their commitment to maintaining the desks and using them for their intended purpose.

The donation underscores the Kwabre East Municipal Assembly’s dedication to prioritizing education and investing in the future of young people within the municipality.
