Member of Parliament for Ningo-Prampram, Sam George, has generated public discussions with a shocking revelation about President Nana Akufo-Addo.

In a post on X, formerly known as Twitter, the outspoken legislator expressed concerns about alleged plans by the president to resist a peaceful transfer of power on 7th January, 2025.

According to Sam George, there are widespread rumors suggesting that President Akufo-Addo may be considering moves to create chaos in order to avoid handing over power. He pointed fingers at the Parliamentary leadership, the Electoral Commission of Ghana (EC), and certain individuals in the courts as key players in the alleged plot.

“I honestly don’t want to believe the rumours that @NAkufoAddo is seeking ways not to hand over power peacefully. The rumours of creating chaos through their Parliamentary leadership, the @ECGhanaOfficial and some people in the Courts are rife.” he said in his post

Sam George, a member of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), emphasized the importance of protecting Ghana’s democracy.

He urged leaders to accept the will of the people as expressed in elections, adding that any attempt to undermine democracy could harm the country’s progress.

He noted that former President John Dramani Mahama demonstrated true democratic values when he peacefully handed over power after losing the 2016 elections, despite having some disagreements with the results.

“Ghanaians have spoken loud and clear. The verdict is decisive. As democrats, we must accept, move on and live to fight another day as @JDMahama has done for 8 years despite several misgivings,” he stated.

Sam George further called on Ghanaians to defend the country’s democracy and safeguard its peace. He concluded his post by praying for God’s blessings on Ghana.
