Kwabre East: Simms SHS On Fire, Razed Boys Dorm

Kwabre East Municipal: Fire Outbreak Hits SIMMS Senior High School

A fire outbreak has consumed the Boy Dormitory of SIMMS High School at Fawoade in the Kwabre East municipality of the Ashanti region on Friday the 13th of 2023.

The cause of the fire outbreak remains uncertain. Personal belongings of the students including books, clothing and many others were razed as a result but fortunately, all the teachers and students were in their respective classrooms, and there were no casualties or loss of life.

The school authorities have refused to talk to the media, however they have expressed their intention to assess the situation and arrange suitable accommodations for the affected students. They assured to provide updates to the media promptly.

Some students whose dormitories were affected shared their experiences that, they could not take any of their things being chopboxes, trunks thereby appealed to Government stakeholders to come their aide.

The Kwabre East Municipal Fire Commander, D.O 3 Akua Birago, in an interview told the media that they received a call from a teacher and promptly arrived at the scene to extinguish the fire.

Their swift action saved one dormitory and the downstairs rooms.

However, she advised that the entire building be evacuated until further notice.
