International Forest Day: Let’s Help Eradicate Unlawful Cutting Down Of Trees ~ Chief Farmer

Illegal Chainsaw Operators have been advised to help put an end to Illegal cutting of trees

The International day of forest is celebrated each year to draw public attention to need to protect and sustainably, manage our forest and trees.

Speaking to Nattybongo, the western north regional chief farmer, Nana Charles Owusu, advised illegal chainsaw operators to put a stop to illegal lumbering, because cutting down trees unlawfully causes climate change.

Nana Owusu pleaded with the community chiefs within the western north region to report anyone who enters the forest unlawfully, to forestry commission or any authority for proper punishment.

He further called on farmers to plant more trees in their farms to maintain the rainfall patern, which will help their crops to yield more.

That not withstanding, Nana Charles Owusu said the government of Ghana received support from donators to plant more trees in the country and it will be very sad if they got to know we are cutting down trees unlawfully.

He said we should be ourselves watchdog, to protect our forest from destruction.
