Green Ghana Project: 90 Per Cent of trees survived ~ Forestry Commission

Report conducted by the Forestry Commission of Ghana in Ahafo Region on Green Ghana Project, indicates that 90 percent of the over-800,000 seedlings planted are thriving.

President Nana Akufo Addo in collaboration with Forestry Commission of Ghana launched the Green Ghana Project two years ago with the aimed at restoring Ghana’s depleted forest cover through tree planting.

It is also to reduce the impact of climate change on Ghana.

Ahafo Region exceeded it’s target of planting 500,000 trees to 800,000 treess in 2022.

Speaking to Success FM’s Atiewin Mohammed in Goaso, the Ahafo Regional Manager of the Forestry Commission, Nana Poku Bosompem, indicated that his outfit, in collaboration with relevant stakeholders are making sure the trees flourish.

Nana Poku Bosompem said protecting the forest reserves in Ahafo Region is a shared responsibility and therefore called on Chiefs, Opinion leaders, Various district Assemblies to help the Forestry Commission to ensure the sustainability of the forest cover.
