Non-Communicable diseases on the rise in Ghana ~ Nutritionist

The nutrition officer of the Jaman North district health directorate in the Bono region, Mr Addai Yeboah Joseph has revealed that Non-Communicable diseases are on the rise in the country hence the need to take emergency action against the canker to save lives.

Speaking in an interview with Yankee Fm’s Odiakopa Afram Denkyirahene, Mr. Addai Yeboah Joseph indicated that most diseases and infections presented to the Out Patients Department (OPD) of most hospitals in the country have higher records of Non-Communicable diseases which includes High Blood pressure, Hypertension, Diabetes, stroke and the likes which keeps increasing at a faster rate from 2019 up to date ranging from 11 to 13 percent from 2019 to 2021 stressing that it is really affecting lives hence it needs to be taken into consideration to prevent future health setbacks.

He noted that the increasing rate of these Non-Communicable diseases is as a result of poor diets hence our diet must be enriched to prevent these diseases. He recommended the consumption of fruits and vegetables indicating that it has a lower sugar level which doesn’t have negative impact on the human body as compared foodstuffs that are digged from the grounds.
