COCOBOD provides Health Screening For Over 800 Cocoa Farmers

The Sefwi Bekwai District Cocoa Health and Extension Division (CHED), in the Bibiani Anhwianso Bekwai Municipality of the Western North Region, has organised a free health screening exercise for over 800 cocoa farmers at Sefwi Bekwai and its evirons.

According to Mr. Joseph Kusi, the coordinator for Sefwi Bekwai District Cocoa Health and Extension Division (CHED), said the exercise was part of Ghana COCOBOD corporate social responsibility outreach programme to respond to the health needs of the Communities deprived of nearby health center and sensitize the cocoa farmers on the precaution measures to be undertaking when are exposed to cuts and injuries at their usual work place and also to educate them on good eating habit to promote their health status.

Mr. Ernest Fiifi Hanso, who led the medical team explained to the media that the farmers were screened for breast cancer, eye, blood pressure, malaria and other related diseases and were given medication.

He, therefore advised the farmers to go on regular check-up.

Some of the cocoa farmers expressed their gratitude to cocobod, govt and pledged to work hard to increase the country’s cocoa production.
