Wenchi: US Ambassador to Ghana sends Gh¢2,852.00 momo to pay a Lady’s admission fees after Facebook post

United States Ambassador to the Republic of Ghana Ambassador Stephanie Sullivan has paid the admission fees of a young Ghanaian lady after a public appeal on Facebook to raise funds to help her.

The young lady who got admission to Al-Faruq College of Education in Wenchi requested assistance from one Mariam Mohammed who in turn put up a Facebook post appealing to the public to help.

“Salaamu alaikum guys. Please a sister needs 2,851.30 cedis to pay her fees. She had admission to Al Faruq College of Education, Wenchi. The deadline for the payment is tomorrow, 3rd January,2022. She sent me a message on whatsap few days ago but I wasn’t feeling well so I didn’t respond to my whatsap messages until I decided to go through them all. Please help us. The momo line is 0244722432 – Mariama Mohammed. The money will be paid into the school’s account as we did for the previous students . Thank you!” The Facebook appeal read.

Less than 10 hours after the post, the US Ambassador to Ghana who might have sighted the post quickly reached out to the poster and offered to pay the full cost and indeed she did.

Several persons are expressing appreciation to the US top diplomat for the equanimity and concern especially because of the medium.

The lady beneficiary of the gesture is expected to report to school this week after all payments were done.
