The Old Tafo Municipal Chief Executive in the Ashanti Region, Hon Fred Obeng Owusu has stated that, Government continues to be committed to evidence based decision making and planning in all facets in Ghana’s development agenda.
At the official launching ceremony of the Old Tafo part of the National Population and housing census held at Tafo, Chief Executive Fred Obeng Owusu appealed to the media to promote and educate the public on this national development activity.
He advised residents in the Municipality to participate, support and convey accurate information to the Census enumerators to ensure smooth and effective enumeration.
The Executive Officer reiterated the importance of the census for the development and growth of the society, and to achieve the vision of a brighter future for all people, the Municipal Assembly needs the data that the census will provide.
Hon Dr Fred Obeng Owusu encouraged the stakeholders present that the information they will provide to the census officials would be strictly confidential as it will be handled only by persons who have taken the “oath of secrecy” under the statistical service Act 2019 (Act 1003).
The Municipal Statistician, Gifty Oforiwaa Tawia addressing the participants at the gathering said all arrangements necessary for the exercise has been done including loading of applications and census materials on the tablets, training and field logistics have been deployed and distributed to the Municipality and are ready for the conduct of the 2021 PHC.
She advised her field officers to eshew all forms of inflammatory remarks that will impede the success of the Census.
Madam Gifty Oforiwaa Tawia added that, technological advances, process digitalization and enhanced and effective training, being the hallmarks of Ghana 2021 PHC, have been integrated into the census process to ensure the production of quality data.
