Open Letter To DR. Frank Amoakohene (Ashanti Regional Minister)

GET SERIOUS AND STOP THE SOCIAL MEDIA CHANTS

In the wake of the electoral victory of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the 2024 elections, I have followed with keen objectivity, the social media escapades of the new Ashanti Regional Minister, Hon. Dr. Frank Amoakohene.

Prior to his nomination, the NDC Regional Executive, led by its Chairman, Augustus Andrew Nana Kwasi visited the Regional Coordinating Council (RCC) and out of their usual self-assured hubris, made a series of wild alegations against the respected former Ashanti Regional Minister, Hon. Simon Osei Mensah.

Among others, the new Minister sought to cast a slur on the leadership of his predecessor, chanting fear of debt overhung at the RCC.

My little advice to the media-happy Minister is that, Politics is a reputation-driven career and if he intends to keep his, he dares not attack that of his “Uncle”.

The article, “Uncles are expected to leave a legacy for their nephews, unfortunately, mine left me with debt and a messed residence” attributed to Dr. Amoakohene is simply unacceptable.

I bear testament to the massive facelift of the Ashanti Regional Coordinating Council (ARCC) during the tenure of Hon. Simon Osei Mensah. Ranging from the replacement of defunct energy-consuming Air Conditioners, Departmental and the Yaa Asantewaa Lodge refurbishment to the ongoing construction of the ultra-modern RCC office project are just a few of the legacies one can attribute to Hon. Osei Mensah.

It is therefore nauseating for the young Minister, who, instead of making a good case for the youth has rather chosen the path of self-destruction, less than a month into his administration.

I pray he hastens slowly as we commit to making him succeed in the overall interest of Asanteman.

I respectfully submit.
