SPEECH BY NAA-PARIYOUNG KOSOM ASAGA YELZOYA II, PARAMOUNT CHIEF OF NANGODI, ON THE FUTURE OF THE SRAPBTEC FACILITY.

Distinguished Guests, Honourable Government Representatives, Members of the Security Services, Development Partners, Traditional Authorities, Ladies and Gentlemen,

I greet you all with deep respect from the land of Nangodi, a community steeped in tradition but firmly committed to the peace and future of our beloved Ghana.

It is with great pride and hope that I stand before you today to speak on a vision that has already begun to take form — the Police Security Resilience and Peace Building Training Center (SRAPBTEC), located here in Nangodi.

This initiative is not just another facility. It is a national asset. A continental opportunity. A global model in the making.

Set on 64 acres of generously donated land by the people of Nangodi, this center represents the unwavering commitment of our traditional area to national security, peace, and development. The topography is not only stunning but strategically ideal — offering varied terrain that is perfectly suited for modern police and high-risk security training.

We are proud to say that joint training programs have already commenced at this site, involving the UK Joint Counter-Terrorism Training and Advisory Team, in partnership with the Ghana Joint Services High-Risk Operations Team, led by the Ghana Police Service. These are no ordinary exercises — they are foundations for long-term peace and preparedness in a region that borders unpredictable threats.

The geostrategic location of Nangodi cannot be overstated. Located just 30 minutes from Bawku and 20 minutes from Bolgatanga, this facility is on the frontline of Ghana’s northeastern corridor, where the threats of violent extremism and cross-border terrorism continue to linger. If we are serious about keeping the peace in Bawku and protecting our sovereignty, then this center must be seen as our first and best line of defence.

And more than that, this is a place of peacebuilding. A sanctuary where security officers are not only trained in combat, but also in community engagement, negotiation, resilience, and inter-agency collaboration. Already, the center benefits from institutional partnership with the University for Development Studies (UDS), adding academic and research value to its operations.

I call upon the Government of Ghana, the Ghana Police Service, and all sister security agencies to see this facility as a permanent pillar in our national security infrastructure. Let us invest in its full development — the drawings and estimates have been prepared, and the land is ready. What we now need is action.

And to the international community, UN bodies, and peacebuilding partners — I extend an open invitation: Come and see. Come and partner. Come and help build a training facility that has the power to influence regional stability, prevent terrorist infiltration, and promote cross-border peace.

Let the SRAPBTEC of Nangodi become what it is destined to be: Africa’s model of security excellence, peace enforcement, and cross-border resilience.

The people of Nangodi have shown vision, generosity, and patriotism. We now call on our government and partners to match our commitment with investment and urgency.

Let us work together to build not just a training center, but a beacon of peace, resilience, and national strength.

May God bless Ghana. May peace prevail in our nation. And may Nangodi rise as a symbol of unity and security for all.

Thank you.
