Following the directives of President John Dramani Mahama charging MMDCEs to ensure clean, hygienic, and well-managed environments across their jurisdictions and that they will be annually assessed and ranked based on how clean their districts are.
The Kwabre East Municipal Assembly led by the Municipal Chief Executive, the Office of the Member of Parliament and the Environmental Health Department including the Assembly members held a massive clean up exercise on Saturday to complement the President’s sanitation day program.
They cleaned the principal streets and also distilled every choked gutters so as to prevent spread of diseases and germs.
The MCE, Hon. Joseph Amankwah addressing the participants emphasized the importance of maintaining a clean environment, noting that cleaner surroundings not only improve public health but also contribute to the attractiveness and the economic potential of the Municipality.
He urged the people to support the President’s initiative to combat filthiness in Ghana.
Speaking on behalf of the Member of Parliament, Hon Onyina Acheampong Akwasi Gyamfi, the Special Assistant to the MP, Mr Ofori Williams, commended the MCE for his cordial and inclusive relationship and leadership with the MP.

He appealed to the residents to uphold high standards of hygiene, stressing that indiscriminate littering and dumping of waste in gutters pose serious health risks.
Meanwhile, the Municipal Sanitation Officer, Asana Imoro stated that ensuring clean environment is a shared responsibility and such activity will go a long way to prevent flooding and disease outbreak and enhances overall quality of life.
