Hon. Messrs. Moses Asaga appointed, sworn-in as chairman of PURC Board,

President John Dramani Mahama has appointed former Member of Parliament for Nabdam Constituency in the Upper East Region, Hon. Messrs. Moses Asaga as Board chairman of the Public Utilities Regulatory Commission, PURC and other 4 members.

The Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah, who inaugurated new board in address called for transparency in the regulation of public utilities, urging the new board to uphold the principles as they take on their responsibilities.

“Let me, on behalf of the president, thank you for agreeing to work hard for him. And as you all must be aware, this government is in a hurry, but at the same time, we have to make sure things are done meticulously. We were voted into power to take care of the people’s interest, and as much as possible, we need to have it at the back of our minds.

“His excellency is determined that energy sector and all other security services discharge excellently, and so we encourage you as much as possible to pay attention and give out your best so that the government will look good, and the people will be satisfied,” he stated.

Mr Asaga, an Economist and Banker, when he became the Minister for Employment and Social Welfare served on the same commission as member of the board which was chaired by Dr. Emmanuel Annan and other four(4) members of the including Mr. Samuel Sarpong.

He was also the former Chief Executive Officer CEO, of National Petroleum Authority appointed by excellency John Dramani Mahama in 2013. He replaced Mr Alex Mould, who became the CEO of the Ghana National Petroleum (GNPC).

Mr Asaga was the former chairman for the parliamentary select committee on Mines and Energy, Oil and Gas.
