G/A: Tema, 18 Transformers Stolen ~ ECG

The Electricity Company of Ghana, ECG, Tema Region has called on residents, Security Agencies, and individuals to take responsibility for the security of their service transformers within their communities.

According to the mouthpiece of the Tema regional headquarters of the ECG, madam Sakyiwaa Mensah, 18 Electricity Service Transformers have been stolen while many of them being vandalized within some districts under the Tema Region.

Given the breakdown to Peace News, madam Sakyiwaa Mensah said the 18 transformers were stolen from the Krobo district, Afienya District, and Prampram District.

She said, in December 2022 alone, during the Christmas holidays, 3 transformers have been stolen from areas like Kpone Secondary School and PS Global, Abbey Light House, Tsopoli Heaven Gate, and Adom Estate, all within the Prampram District of the ECG.

Madam Sakyiwaa Mensah touching on the cost of the stolen and vandalized transformers said some of them will cost the ECG about Gh¢69,000 to be replaced.

She called on residents and Security Agencies to report unannounced power outages and suspected individuals around ECG installations within the communities for quick response to such cases.
