The Leadership of the Local Government Service Association of Ghana LoGSEA, has paid a courtesy call on Head of Service, Prof. Lord Mensah at the Office of Head of Local Government Service OHLGS, in Accra on Tuesday.
The delegation led by LoGSEA National President Engr. Ben Debrah afforded the Leadership opportunity to interact with the Head of Service and Chief Director.
In his opening remarks, the President of LoGSEA congratulated the Head of Service on his appointment and assured him of the unflinching support from the Engineering fraternity of the Local Government Service.
He informed Prof. Lord Mensah of their pending Annual General Meeting AGM, in August under theme “Equipping the Engineering Departments of the Local Government Service for sustainable infrastructure delivery in the MMDAs”.
Engr. Ben Debrah further appealed to the Head of Service to facilitate the resourcing of the Departments with required logistics and trainings.
Other issues such as lack of spatial plans and standardisation of building materials in the markets were also discussed.
On his part, the Head of Service Prof. Lord Mensah called on the Engineers to inculcate professionalism and integrity in the course of their work. He outlined some of his vision as; data driving decision making, standardisation, development of capacity building framework and others.
Prof. Mensah said members can visit the website of the LGS to read more of his vision for the Service. He explained that as part of the capacity building framework, Koforidua Training Centre will undertake practical trainings for Engineers and other staff in the Service.
On the theme of the AGM, the Head of service lauded it and said the it was appropriate and assured the fraternity that they will officially inform the Assemblies of their challenges and urged them to support the Departments to deliver.
He advised the Association to speak against the substandard materials in the market and suggested bringing experts in the industry to have a panel discussion at their AGM.
Prof. Lord Mensah was very happy to see the Leadership of LoGSEA and thanked the fraternity for the visit and counts on them to support his initiatives and plans he has for the Service.
Present at the meeting were; Vice President of LoGSEA, National PRO, Welfare Chairman, National Secretary and his Assistant, National Organiser, Nationsl Treasurer and Greater Accra President. The President thanked the Head of Service and Chief Director for their warm reception in hosting them.
