A/R: Minister Of Education Urged To Consult Predecessors For System Reforms

The former spokesperson for the Ministry of Education, Mr. Opoku Mensah Yaw advised the current Education Minister to engage with his predecessor as the education ministry embarks on system reforms.

Mr. Opoku Mensah Yaw, while speaking on the motivation behind his recent donation of books to Adutwam D/A, Awanya D/A, Atwia D/A in the Sekyere Centarl District and schools within the Amankwatia Circuit, indicated that the former Education Minister, Hon. Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum during his tenure as the Minister made lot of transformation in Ghana’s Education.
He noted that the “communities of Excellence” policy, championed by Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, was a policy that aimed to improve literacy and socio-economic transformation in Ghana by fostering a network of highly literate communities and must be prioritised by this current government.
“ The Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) education that he introduced has also empowered students to be creative and innovative. Schools such as Afia Kobi Apem Girls among others through STEM have been able to build model aeroplanes among others”.
According to him the Minister left a great legacy that in the history of this country no Education minister has ever done and thus must be an example to fellow Ministers.
“It’s never a shame for a Minister to consult his predecessor for advice, all we want as a nation is development and its doesn’t matter who learn from who” he divulged.
