The Clinical Care Cordinɔtor for Akropong Governments Hospitap Dr. Maame Serwaah Gyamfi Adubofour is urging the government to increase subsidies for breast cancer treatment, as reports indicates an alarming number of advanced cases.
According to her, the high cost of treating breast cancer in the country is making treatment very difficult for patients with the disease.
Dr. Maame Serwaah Gyamfi Adubofour made this known at Akropong in the Atwima Nwabiagya North constituency when Akropong Government hospital in collaboration with Dr. Maame Serwaah Gyamfi Adubofour organized free breast cancer screening foe reidents at Akropong and its nearby communities.
She said the exercise forms part of the hospital’s activities to mark this year’s Breast Cancer Awareness Month, which is celebrated every October.

She indicated that, the initiative which has run for 4 years now has helped screened a lot of women over the 4 years period.
“Besides the breast cancer screening, we also educate them on breast cancer, its symptoms and treatment” She noted.
She further called for continued breast cancer awareness creation to help reduce the high rate of breast cancer cases recorded in the country.

Dr. Maame Serwaah Gyamfi Adubofour also called on Ghanaians especially women to regularly visit the hospital for breast cancer screening for early detection and treatment.
Ms. Nancy Osei Poku, Snr. Midwifery Officer who is also the incharge of Well Women Clinic at Akropong Government Hospital in her remarks urged women to constantly examine their breast.
