The Ghana Health Service in Ahafo Region has express worry over delay on timely initiation of antenatal care which has a great impact on adverse pregnancy out comes.
Though records in health facilities in the region revealed that majority of pregnant mothers start their first visit as recommended by Ghana Health Service but they want all pregnant women to report on the first month they missed their period to start early antenatal care.
The Ahafo Regional Public Health Nurse, Comfort Korkor said factors of first antenatal care visit among pregnant mothers at public health facilities
should be strengthen.
She said many health problems of pregnant women are preventable, detectable, and treatable if they attained antenatal care adequately
” first trimester pregnancy stage is the fastest developmental period of the fetus, in which all organs become well developed and needs special attention”
Confort Korkor made these known to Success FM’s Atiewin Mohammed in an interview.
The Ahafo Regional Public Health Nurse, Comfort Korkor has therefore called on men to support pregnant women in the region on their needs, take to hospital and ensure their take their medicine timely.
